Chanel also goes fur free

Chanel wrote fashion history last night: "No more Croco for Coco" was the motto on the eve of the presentation of the fashion house's "Métiers d'art" collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Thus the fashion giant announced its plan to ban fur and crocodile leather from its production. The difficulty  to source skins and leathers that meet Chanel's ethical and qualitative standards was pointed as the main reason for the decision.

Chanel is yet another big name in the fashion world who goes fur free. Last month Jean-Paul Gaultier also announced that he will ban fur from his collections, as did earlier in 2018 Burberry, Versace and John Galiano. For the first time in history this year the London week of fashion, where more than 80 designers took part, was also fur free.

Most of the big designers and retailers who have banner fur in their production have been united under the Free Fur Retailer platform. The names of H&M, Zara, Tommy Hilfiger, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Esprit, The North Face, Timberland, Lee, as well as many other fashion icons stand out in the Fur Free Retailers' nearly 1000 members. FOUR PAWS is the official representative of the Fur Free Retailer programme for Bulgaria. The charity urges Bulgarian fashion companies and retailers to join the platform and thus become part of the big family of fashion with high ethical standards.
